Ž The drafting of marketing and strategic business plans and the leadership role in their subsequent, successful implementation into the company’s USA, Canadian and South African businesses during a three trips/ten months’ exercise which began in October 1996. The creation, in mid 1989, of a dynamic marketing concept, rock on ground, which provides customers with blasted rock, to an agreed specification and within predetermined environmental limits, in quantities and on time to meet their production requirements. This has taken the focus away from commodity explosives sales whilst improving profitability, developing a closer customer interface and ensuring professionally managed blasting to an agreed price. It has gained wide acceptance from a traditionally conservative customer base. This marketing strategy won the Australian submission to the ICI Chairman’s market focus award in late 1990. Ž The drafting, presentation and publication of several marketing and technical papers, relating to quarrying practice, explosives / blast management issues and asphalt production. A paper entitled quarry selection and development won the Institute of Quarrying’s Australia award in 1987. It was subsequently submitted to the United Kingdom and won the prestigious Ruston Award - the first time this has been achieved by an Australian. |
