Past Corporate Positions· Orica Limited (formerly ICI Australia Operations Pty Ltd) 1988 - 1998 Business Manager - Quarry & Construction Services Prime Purpose: To lead the profitable growth and strategic direction of the company’s Australian Quarry & Construction Business Unit whilst ensuring the safe and environmentally effective production of bulk explosives and provision of blast management services. Key Accountabilities: * Business Unit’s Performance To achieve or improve upon the budgeted profit performance through influencing sales, technical services and operations’ teams, within the Business Unit, and gaining their understanding of and commitment to the strategic business plan. * Cost Management To prepare and gain acceptance of the Business Unit’s fixed-cost budget, capital expenditure plans and assets allocation whilst regularly monitoring performance, seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and initiate corrective action as necessary. * Business Strategy To develop, gain acceptance for and timely deploy the Business Unit’s strategic plans and five years’ forecast from a clear understanding of customers’ needs, market and competitive analysis and the establishment of long term contract and business alliances. * Technology Leadership To provide business leadership and sponsorship of the company’s technical plan following analysis of the market impact of technology options (ours, our competitors and our customers). * International Interface To maintain up to date knowledge of industry innovations worldwide and analyse the trends and implications for the company’s international Quarry & Construction Business Units through networking, information exchange, proactive monitoring and regular visits to key locations. * Major Contracts |
